Nigerian artistes nominated for this year’s edition of the MTV EMA Awards, Psquare and Wizkid, will hope to outdo other nominees and each other in the best African Act category on November 22. Other Africans nominated alongside the Nigerian pop stars are LCNVL (South Africa), Mafikizolo (South Africa) and Fuse ODG (Ghana).Three-time EMA winner, Katy Perry, will perform her new single “Unconditionally” live at the event, with anchorman, Ron Burgundy, as a special guest, reporting from various city landmarks throughout the show.
“I’m so excited to return to the EMA stage! I have tailor-made a performance of a brand new song from PRISM to share with fans from around the world on November 10,” Katy Perry said in a press statement.
Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the “2013 MTV EMA” nominations with five nods each, while Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke are each up for four awards. Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Green Day, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Daft Punk, Rudimental, Icona Pop and One Direction are each nominated for three awards. Artists with two EMA nods include Rihanna, Katy Perry, Eminem, Jay Z, Bastille, Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Paramore, Rita Ora, Drake, Afrojack, Avicii, Calvin Harris and Iggy Azalea
MTV will announce additional EMA performers and presenters at a later date.
